For many, 2016 feels like a quieter chapter. A time before constant noise and endless comparison. For our founder, Christina Bullock, it was a season of searching.

Helping out on set (styling and occasionally modeling!) back in 2016

During this period, Christina was working across marketing, design, and styling. While the work was creative and fulfilling in moments, something still felt incomplete. She had not yet found the deeper sense of purpose she was searching for.

In 2017, that clarity began to take shape when Christina accepted her first role in the shoe industry at Samuel Hubbard. The brand manufactured its shoes in Portugal, a country with a long and respected tradition of shoemaking.

She wore many hats and got to see many parts of the businesses she worked in, which later led her to want to start her own shoe business someday.

It was here that Christina fell in love with shoes and recognized the quality, comfort, and craftsmanship that truly well-made footwear can offer.

Looking back, the uncertainty of 2016 was not a setback. It was a beginning. Nostalgia allows us to reflect on how far we have come, but it also reminds us to stay present and grounded in the moment we are living now.

Joyasol was born from this journey. From a period of searching that led to clarity. From a belief that intentional living, slow fashion, and thoughtfully made women’s shoes are not trends, but essentials.

If you are in a waiting season, let this be a reminder that growth is often happening quietly. The moments that feel uncertain today may be shaping everything that comes next.
